Robert Prevost elected as 267th Pope

A new pope has been elected after a two-day papal election.

Accordingly, Robert Prevost of the United States has been elected as the 267th Pope.

Foreign media reports that Robert Prevost has been named Leo the 14th.

With the good news that the world was waiting for, white smoke rose from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel at around 9.40 pm local time tonight. Signaling that a new pope had been chosen.

Accordingly, a new pope was elected within an hour.

After the ascension of His Holiness Pope Francis, the secret ballot to elect a new pope for the 1.4 billion Catholics around the world began in the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City.

This was attended by 133 cardinals from around the world

How else could a black smoke come out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel at around 12.30 am local time, indicating that the secret ballot failed to elect a new pope on the first day.

A large group of Catholic devotees gathered in St. Peter's Square to witness the election of the new pope.

Today, the second day of the election of the new pope, there were four voting sessions, and the new pope was not elected in the morning vote either.

Symbolically, a black smoke also came out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel.

In 2013, the secret ballot for the election of Pope Francis lasted two days and included five votes.

It is reported that, in the 10 modern papal elections held since the beginning of the 20th century, the average time to elect a pope has been three days, including seven ballots.
