We all want to live a healthy life...
The food we eat affects it... So today we are going to talk about the fish we eat regularly....
The main factor that causes heart disease is the accumulation of unhealthy or saturated fat in the blood vessels. Butter, cheese, pork, beef, etc. contain a lot of this saturated fat. Fish living in the deep sea eat seaweed. These plants produce omega-3 polyunsaturated fats. These omega-3 unsaturated fats are deposited in the bodies of fish that eat these plants.
Since deep sea fish are rich in unsaturated fats, eating such fish daily is not harmful to the body. Especially fish such as mackerel, sardines, herring, mackerel, salmon, herring, and sardines are rich in healthy fats. Unsaturated fats help reduce the body's internal cholesterol. Eating fat controls the production of unhealthy saturated fats. However, this unsaturated fat should not be consumed in excess. It is harmful to the body.
The Greenland Eskimos have the highest fish consumption in the world. The main food of the people in that snow-covered land is sea fish. They also have the lowest incidence of heart disease. The annual fish consumption of the world's population has been calculated at 21 kilograms.
Although there is sea all around the country, the annual fish consumption of the Sri Lankan people is about 15 kilograms. The fish consumption of the people in the mountainous areas is about 10 kilograms. Fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel and sardines that live in the deep sea are commonly eaten by Sri Lankans as canned fish. Due to the chemicals used in the production of these canned fish, there is a problem with eating them in excess. Therefore, fish such as sardines, herring and mackerel are more beneficial for us Sri Lankans. It can be understood that those who eat sardines, herring, and mackerel are not only protecting their hearts but also their wallets than those who eat tuna, tuna, and shark.
Since sharks also live in the deep sea, some people eat shark oil and fish regularly. Shark oil is produced by the shark's liver. Shark liver is rich in water-soluble vitamins A and D. These vitamins are toxic when taken in excess in the body. Therefore, taking shark oil and fish is not suitable for the prevention of heart disease. Although eating sea fish is beneficial, eating shrimp, lobster, and crab in excess is not beneficial. These fish are low in healthy fats. They are high in cholesterol. Therefore, it is not advisable to eat them frequently, except about twice a month.
Thus, we can now gain some understanding of whether we should eat more meat or fish to keep our hearts healthy and live longer.
