Ranil spent over a billion rupees on 23 foreign trips - Nalinda Jayatissa

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has participated in 23 foreign trips during his two years in power, says Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Accordingly, he has participated in 4 foreign trips in 2022, 14 foreign trips in 2023 and 5 official foreign trips in 2024, the Minister stated in response to a question raised in Parliament today (08).

The Minister also presented details of the individuals involved in these foreign trips at government expense in addition to the President, and the Minister stated that 63 individuals were involved in the 4 trips made in 2022, 252 individuals in the 14 foreign trips in 2023 and 111 individuals in the 5 official foreign trips in 2024.

Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa further stated that the total amount spent by the former President on these 23 foreign trips is more than 1 billion rupees, and that during the time the former President was in power, he did not personally participate in 19 trips but his representatives participated, and that more than 19 million rupees have been spent on them.
