Special notice regarding welfare benefits for beneficiaries

The Welfare Benefits Board says that a false advertisement is being circulated on certain social media platforms, giving the impression that the Welfare Benefits Scheme will be discontinued from May 2025.

Issuing a statement, the board has pointed out that the true situation is that the Welfare Benefits Scheme, as initially passed by Parliament, was approved for payments for the transitional category only from June to December 2023.

Subsequently, as per a decision taken by the government, the relevant payment for this category was extended until December 2024 and once again the government decided to make the payment of the relevant allowance for this category until March 2025.

The government also decided to extend the payment of the allowance for that category again until April 2025 and accordingly the relevant allowance was extended until April, the statement states.

Accordingly, the elderly allowances of the elderly belonging to this transitional category are to be paid continuously. Although the transitional category's welfare benefit allowance was initially scheduled to end in December 2024 as per the scheme's adoption, the payment will be made until April 2025 as per the decisions taken by the government from time to time. It is also emphasized in the said announcement that it is not a one-time stoppage of payment as highlighted by various social media.

Furthermore, the payment of the welfare benefit allowance related to this transitional category was made as a relief to the economically disadvantaged people due to reasons such as the Corona pandemic in the country. Accordingly, apart from the transitional category allowance, the benefits of the vulnerable category, the poor and the extremely poor categories are being paid continuously.
